Prior to becoming a Body Stress Release practitioner I worked as a perfumery development and laboratory manager in the perfumery and flavours industry. Although my job was interesting and well paid I was looking for something that was more fulfilling and meaningful to me. My journey into body work started with horses when I decided to train as an Equine Body Worker in 2009 and found that the massage techniques also helped relieve back and shoulder tension in friends and family, not only horses. I found that helping others (humans, horses and dogs) find relief from pain and discomfort was far more rewarding than selecting the right perfume for a customer’s detergent powder or new toilet soap
range.
I started searching for a suitable healing modality in order to eventually change my career. Much as I enjoy Equine Body Work I did not think I would be able to make a living from it for long before the physical strain would take its toll on my body. I had heard about Body Stress Release from my brother a number of years before. When he was living in Hoekwil near George, working as a pottery artist in 2003 he suffered from chronic back and neck pain. It became so severe that he thought he would have to find something else to do. He went for Body Stress Release and found permanent relief from his back and neck pain. At the time he told me about the difference it had made to his life.
Following the very sudden, tragic death of my youngest sister in 2015, I tried BSR to help release the emotional stress I was under and to relieve the lower back pain and sciatica caused by years of accumulated body stress from horse riding falls. (I often went for physio or acupuncture for sciatica, but the relief was always temporary). After the first three BSR sessions I found relief from the lower back pain and sciatica, and went regularly for maintenance sessions finding that it also helped me cope much better with daily stress. This was the turning point in my life and I decided to pursue my dream of helping others find healing and applied to the BSR academy to be trained in 2016. I was thrilled when I was accepted as they only train 24 students each year.
After a life changing five months of full time study at the academy in Rondevlei I returned home and set up a practice from my home in Mondeor. It is just so rewarding for me to help people find relief from their pain and stress every day. Every day I am amazed and humbled at how such a gentle, simple physical technique can make such a difference and how body can heal itself when body stress is released.
